Blohm & Voss BV-155 B-3/R6 Geier

In 1945, after a long development time, the BV-155B went to operational status in the Luftwaffe. The type was called "Geier" or Vulture and initially was used as a high altitude interceptor to counter the B-29's of the USAF.

From 1947 onwards the B-36 also made an appearance over Germany and the BV-155 was very successful against both types as the allies did not have fighters that could escort the bombers efficiently at high altitude.

The initial interceptor variant was the B-3, sometimes equipped with two underwing 20mm canon as the R6 variant.

The B-2 was a high altitude reconnaissance variant that was used for flights over the UK.
