Lockheed Martin F-16XL Klu

In the late 1980s the Dutch Air Force started looking for a replacement for the F-16 fighter. The choice was made to buy the F-16XL and the first F-16XL was delivered to the Klu in 1991.

The performance of the F-16XL was disappointing however and in 2001 the Dutch government decided to replace all F-16s and F-16XLs with the JSF Joint Strike Fighter.
